You can understand your past without being run by it.

Anxiety, a constant sense of threat, numbness, flashbacks, or a harsh inner critic can all be signs that your mind and body learned to protect you in ways that once made sense. Those strategies may now be costing you sleep, relationships, focus, or peace of mind. Therapy can help you loosen their grip.

How trauma and anxiety show up

  • Feeling on edge, easily startled, or unable to relax

  • Worry or racing thoughts that don't turn off

  • Shutting down, feeling numb, or avoiding reminders

  • Strong reactions that seem bigger than the moment

  • Using alcohol, food, work, or screens to take the edge off

  • Relationship patterns that feel stuck and familiar

If some of this sounds like you, it doesn't mean something is wrong with you. It means you adapted to something hard.

How we'll work

  • Safety and pacing first. You don't have to retell your story before you're ready, and you can slow down at any time. Your choices guide the pace.

  • Understanding the pattern. We'll explore how your responses developed and what they do for you now.

  • Practical skills. Mindfulness, grounding, and cognitive-behavioral tools to ease distress in daily life.

  • Body and mind together. Learning to notice and work with what happens in your body, not just your thoughts.

  • Room for the whole picture. If substance use or other habits are part of how you cope, we'll address them without shame, as part of the same work.
